Greetings Brothers and Happy New Year,
I am thrilled to have you Marching with the us on January 19th. Historically, the weather has been cold, however I highly encourage everyone participating to ensure that they hydrate a couple of days prior to the march, and dress in layers.
Bathrooms are only going to located at the beginning and end of the march route. The commission did mentioned that some local churches may open their doors up to anyone needing to use the restroom. Other rules apply that if you have a conceal to carry card that you don't bring your weapon, if you have pets that it is highly encouraged that you don't bring them. Please note that in the event of inclement weather, the march will proceed around the Alamodome, followed by the commemorative program.
The route is approximately 2.6 miles starting at MLK Academy ending at Pittman-Sullivan Park. At the end of the March there will be some live entertainment that is sure to be worth the march. The commission has asked that we don't announce the special guest performer but note that it is a grammy award winner. The SAAC MLK committee will also open the doors to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for food, fun and fellowship. A later correspondence will be sent asking for support (monetary, food goods and drinks).
Attached, you will find the march route for your reference. As a reminder this is a Commemorative March, we welcome chanting and signing.
